Hello!
Welcome to our web site and thanks for visiting us today. My name is Andy and I'm the Vicar here at St Thomas' Church. We're a group of Christians who meet regularly on Sundays and at other times to praise God and to encourage one another in our faith. Whether you're already a Christian or just thinking about the faith you'd be most welcome to join us one Sunday. There's something for everyone and refreshments are served after the service. Do join us if you're free. We'd love to meet you. Revd Andy Brewerton (Vicar) |

Lent Evenings 2010Lent is traditionally the season of the year for Christians to think about their walk with God and to prepare for the celebrations of Easter.
Our Lent evenings this year we'll be looking at the beatitudes from Matthew's book under the title 'The Good Life'. What does it mean to live the life that God intended for us? How can we be happy when the world around us seems to be going to the wall? Over the five evenings we'll work our way through these eight pithy sayings from the lips of Jesus. There'll be a mixture of talks, discussion and thinking time as we try and figure out together what it means to live the good life. Evenings begin on Thursday 25th February for five weeks, finishing with our Maundy Thursday Supper on the 1st April. |
Lunch Club The next session of the St Thomas' Lunch Club will be on Wednesday 10th March from 12.00 noon 'til 2.30 pm. Mainly for local retired people, you'll be provided with a two course lunch, there'll be quizzes, games and activities, and a thought for the day. The club will be held in St Thomas' Church. Please book early if you'd like to join us. Speak to Amanda on 01709 589674. |

What If...
This new year we're starting a couple of 'What If...' groups to give people a chance to think about some of life's big questions. The sessions will be at church on Mondays at 2.00 pm, begining on Monday the 1st February. For more details, please speak to Andy on 01709 589674. |
150th Anniversary BookThis year we're celebrating 150 years since the St Thomas' Church opened it's doors, and we're delighted that local historians Ken Wyatt and Giles Brearley have researched and written a new book, 'St Thomas Kilnhurst - A Celebration of 150 Years'. Tracing the history of the parish since it's beginnings in 1859, the book sets out a time-line of the significant events in church and community life. Along side these local events the authors provide a commentary of national and international events, setting the history of Kilnhurst into a wider historical context. The book is available from church, priced £5.50. It can be purchased by mail order for £7.00 including post and packing. |
