Christianity Explored

At St Thomas' we run a short course called 'Christianity Explored' to introduce people to the Christian Faith.

What is it?

Christianity Explored is an informal course for people who'd like to investigate Christianity, or just brush up on the basics of the faith. It explores who Jesus was, what his aims were, and what it means to follow him.

On the course you won't be asked to pray, sing or read aloud, and you can ask any questions you like. Or, if you prefer, you can just come along and listen.

Christianity Explored has been around for over a decade now, and has helped thousands of people get to know more about Jesus. It's been designed to suit different age ranges and people.

Who is it for?

Whether you have previous experience of Church and the Bible, or none at all, this course is for you. We try to make everyone welcome - from the most sympathetic Sunday schooler to the most convinced atheist. We will respect your background, culture and beliefs. Tell us as little or as much about yourself as you feel comfortable.

What goes on then?

The evening begins at 7.30pm with coffee and cake. After the first few minutes together we’ll get into small groups and have a chat about the material from the week before. We’ll then move on to the DVD which will talk about the theme for that week. Then the groups discuss any questions that have arisen, and the evening ends at about 9pm. Of course, if you'd like, you'd be welcome to stay a bit longer to discuss any other questions.

How long is it?

The course runs across six Monday evenings, with an optional four after that, so finishes just before Christmas.

Why are we running it?

At St Thomas' we count it a real privilege to explain the truth and relevance of the Christian message. We don't have all the answers but believe that we have exciting news to share about Jesus Christ.
